3 Golden Nuggets
- You don’t have to be a brainiac – Success in the plumbing business isn’t dependent on how much you know. Look at Einstein, he flunked math class! This isn’t rocket science, You ARE smart. A lot of the time we just have to get out of our own way and do the things that separate us from our competitors.
- Have a heart, but don’t give it away – As business owners, we have been where our employees are, We want the best for our team but we can’t give them too much. Do the things to make the business fun, but know that every team member has a role to play and it’s your job to ensure that everyone is working at their fullest potential.
- Courage is contagious – Much like fear, courage is contagious. You have to be walking and talking from a posture of courage! When the jobs slow down and morale is low, your team needs you to provide positive reinforcement, even when it seems like there is no end in sight!

Show Notes
You don’t have to be a brainiac
The scarecrow didn’t have a brain but he still made it work. You don’t have to be a genius to have a successful plumbing business. You do have to have courage and heart. As you go along you will build confidence, just like we see the scarecrow did in the Wizard of Oz. You don’t have to have a special degree to build your plumbing business either. That’s a lie that society teaches us. The scarecrow wanted to go see the Wizard to get a brain but in reality, he already had what he needed!
Have a heart, but don’t give it away
It takes heart so you can provide the best possible service to your customer but don’t give your heart away. You will get a bad review, you will lose employees, and you will never be able to make everyone happy so keep your head down and keep pushing forward with heart in everything you do!
Courage is contagious
The cowardly lion teaches us that courage is contagious. The lion was scared at first and that is contagious. When the lion is courageous, that is also contagious! Your plumbing business needs your courageous attitude, don’t let people see your fear! There will be times you are scared and wondering how you will pay the bills but don’t let anyone else see that! If you lead with courage, your plumbers will feel that and the courage will spread like wildfire!!
