Show Notes
As a plumbing business owner or someone who wants to start a business, you have a lot of challenges and opportunities ahead of you. That’s why you need to master not just the skills of your trade but also the skills of running a business.
How can you develop these skills, vision, mindset, and strategy? One way is to learn from the eagles.
Here are some of the best resources we’ve used and loved as plumbing business owners. These books, podcasts, and movies will teach you how to think like an entrepreneur, grow your business, and create wealth.
The Science of Getting Rich
Leaders are readers, so our first recommendation is the book The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles.
Like everything in life, there is a formula for achieving your goals and creating wealth, as explained in Wattles’ book.
This book is a must-read for a plumbing business owner because it’s a comprehensive course on success and creating wealth. It discusses everything from mindset to “formulas” to tried and true strategies to help you generate wealth and grow your business to the next level–ultimately, what you should want!
Because getting rich is not a bad thing; it’s actually your moral obligation to get rich because that’s how you become a contributing member of society who can help others grow.
So take it from us, and pick this book up.
And if you’re not a reader, we recommend you still try because the rewards are worth it!
Some more honorable mentions we recommend reading are Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and The E-Myth by Michael E. Gerber. Both books will teach you how to think like an entrepreneur and leverage your assets and are also highly recommended by us!
Entrepreneur on Fire
Listening to podcasts is another way to learn and grow as a plumbing business owner.
Podcasts are a great way to get valuable insights and tips from experts and successful entrepreneurs.
One podcast that we highly recommend is Entrepreneur on Fire by John Lee Dumas. It’s a podcast that gives you everything you need about business and entrepreneurship; marketing funnels, scaling, and everything in between. Listening to that podcast in the morning while we got ready taught us a lot, and it’s incredibly convenient because you can learn as you multitask, so we highly recommend you give it a go!
Some honorable mentions are…
- Ed Mylett, who is also a favorite of ours
- One Extraordinary Marriage hosted by Tony & Alisa DiLorenzo.
The latter is especially helpful if you’re married and have a business going because it will help you navigate both.
As veterans in this business, we guarantee these podcasts will inspire, educate, and motivate you to achieve your goals.
Moneyball
Watching movies is a third great way to learn and grow as a plumbing business owner.
Movies are a reflection of culture, so we can actually learn a lot from them. For example, movies like Moneyball can be an analogy of a small business vs. a larger one, which also applies to plumbing businesses. Because we plumbers, too, gotta think outside of the box to compete and stand out.
So watch with a business hat on and look at things from a very analytical perspective; you’ll find that you can learn so much from movies!
Our honorable mentions here are:
- Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky movies
- Old westerns
- The Founder
These movies will teach you persistence, determination, discipline, and innovation. These are the qualities
that make a successful entrepreneur and a leader.
These resources are not meant to be consumed passively but to be applied actively. So don’t just read them, listen to them, or watch them; use them as tools to transform your life and your business.
All in all, these resources are not only great for business education but also for personal development. We guarantee you’ll learn a thing or two from them, so take it from us and start your education journey today–you won’t regret it!
