Find a Brand Identity That Represents YOU

When you’re a business owner, your brand identity means everything. It’s the symbol that your customers recognize you by, so it needs to be something that carries a significant meaning. That’s why you gotta find an identity that not only speaks to your targeted audience but also tells them what your service is all about.

Babe Plumbing took a symbol that already had meaning to their community, and used it to send the message that they’re community-oriented, friendly, trustworthy, and that they’re a family business.

That’s why it’s essential that you figure out what you want to be known for. Is it that your business is friendly? Is it that you work quickly? What’s your “thing”? 

Figure that out, and then turn it into an image that will:

  1. Stand out
  2. Be memorable
  3. Deliver a message

Because that message is how you’ll get your customers.

Don’t Be Afraid to Take Risks

The second thing you need to do to grow your business is to take a leap of faith. You can’t grow if you have a shaky foundation and you’re not investing the right amount of money and time. You need to believe in your business and go ALL in. Because if you listen to the people telling you that it’ll never work out, then guess what, it WON’T!

It’s risky at first, trust me, I know that and I’ve been there. But, it’s because I’ve been there that I can tell you that it’s doable. 

You first just need to lay down that foundation, and find your “why.” Then, you use that “why” to fuel your motivation. 

If you’re like Jeff and Anne from Babe Plumbing, and your “why” is to live a freedom lifestyle–one where you and your techs don’t need to work nights, weekends, or holidays–then you need to work toward that. 

Start by 

  1. Believing in your brand and your service,
  2. Taking the necessary steps (be it rebranding, raising your prices, etc.), and 
  3. Investing your time and effort.

Little by little, all that effort you’re putting in will turn into rewards. Just trust the process, go all in, and have faith. No excuses.

Have a Strategy in Place 

The last step you need to take when growing your business is to think of an exit strategy. Decide early on what you plan to do with your business when it grows. 

Are you planning to sell? Are you passing it on to your children? To a trusted staff member?

You need to strategically plan your business, and the processes for how everything goes, and figure out what the next steps are.
